Les Gourmandises de Miyuko is one of my favourite cafés in Europe. It’s the perfect place for fashionistas, art directors, cosplay fans, cake design fans and creative people of all ages.
Miyuko is the name of a manga character created by Sarah Hochuli, a graphic designer and owner of Les Gourmandises de Miyuko. She also owns Plastikhaar (http://www.plastikhaar.ch/), a hairdresser’s shop specialised in Japanese wigs and extensions.
Les Gourmandises de Miyuko is a combination of café, pâtisserie, confiserie and tearoom. It is divided into three parts and is as cosy as a private living room. Artfully decorated cakes and pastry as well as English afternoon tea are their specialties. They also have a wide range of delicious teas from Japan, Britain and other countries.
Petits fours, mousses, desserts, scones, salads, sandwiches, soups and salty pies: it’s a real pleasure to taste all their fresh products. I’m particularly fond of the soup. I usually take the big portion. It’s made of fresh vegetables and served with a slice of wholemeal bread. When I meet with a friend, I like to order the Afternoon Tea with the beautiful étagère filled with salty pies, finger sandwiches, antipasti, ayurveda chutneys, scones with cream and jam (CHF 39, drinks excluded).
They also offer vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan products. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
