“In Paris, everybody wants to be an actor; nobody is content to be a spectator.” Jean Cocteau

On the night of the César awards, the French Oscar night, actors, producers and vips celebrate every year a great party at the Fouquet’s, the legendary Parisian restaurant. And if they don’t live in Paris, they might be likely to spend the night at the five-star Hotel Fouquet Barrières, located on a quiet side street of the prestigious avenue des Champs-Elysées and avenue Georges V, in the 8th arrondissement.

I stayed at the Hotel Fouquet Barrières during my stay in Paris in October 2012. It offers a perfect combination of luxury, French art de vivre, refinement and modern elegance. I loved the entrance of the hotel with an enchanting setting designed by Jacques Garcia, blending Empire and Art Deco glamour. The walls are covered with black and white photos from famous French and Hollywood actors and actresses.

I had a superbe executive Champs-Elysée junior suite. The 50 square-metre suite, decorated in a refined, modern style, has an exclusive view over the Champs-Élysées. The suite includes a comfortable lounge area in the bedroom, a spacious dressing room and an office area.

I had my best bathroom experience in the junior suite. No, I didn’t take a bubble bath with Hugh Jackman, drinking champagne and eating delicious strawberries. For the first time in my live, I took a bath watching TV (Fashion TV, to be precise). What a perfect way to relax before going to bed. The bathroom boasts marble decorated with mosaics and mahogany woodwork, and includes a separate shower and bath, a double washbasin, anti-steam television and mirror, as well as separate toilets.

The private U Spa Barrière offers spa treatments and rituals, beauty treatments, slimming programs, a 50×26 feet pool, a hammam, a sauna and a fitness room (powerplate, technogym).

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to have dinner or lunch at one of the two restaurants of the hotel: the legendary brasserie Fouquet’s and the elegant Le Diane, the macaroon-awarded restaurant in the prestigious Michelin guide. I just enjoyed an exquisite breakfast at Le Diane.

The Fouquet Barrières is a great place to stay in Paris. The staff is very friendly, the suites are superbe and the hotel is within walking distance from the Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe, the Lido de Paris and many luxury or trendy shops (Louis Vuitton, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Zara, Sephora etc.).
