American model Kaylan Falgoust is Gaultier’s Apollo who makes everyone melt, “a freshness that makes men hot”. He stars in Gaultier’s commercial and ad campaign for the new fragrance ‘Le Beau Male’.
Eighteen years ago, Gaultier launched his first male fragrance ‘Le Male’ by introducing an unprecedented masculine archetype: the sensual sailor with a soft heart.
Francis Kurkdjian, the ingenious creator of the “Le Male†fragrance, composed this new freshness by Gaultier, reinterpreting the legendary accord. “I really wanted to reclaim ownership of the formula. With hindsight, some things were obvious. Preserving the original structure and unfolding of accords while stretching the note to the maximum,” explained the nose. “The redefinition of lavender that characterises ‘Le Male’ remains, but the oriental facet has been toned down in ‘Le Beau Male’ to make room for skin-caressing sensuality. As if the skin were exuding the fragrance,†added the perfumer. For this new sensual alchemy, the potent ‘mint-mugwort-lavender’ cocktail of freshness is set ablaze on contact with the musks.
The photographer Solve Sundsbo was chosen to tame and capture ‘Le Beau Male’. Nothing deters this Norwegian artist, known for magnifying eroticised bodies through a clever manipulation of shadow and light. His mission: to give substance to this freshness that makes men hot and excites the senses.
Entirely naked on a polar bear skin (100% synthetic), the sailor is personified by Kaylan Falgoust. His hot athletic body, tattooed with a mermaid, causes the icy ground to melt, whilst his eyes, focused straight on the lens, evoke an intimate embrace.
The eloquence of the message is worthy of the situation:, he poses like a 1950s pin-up, nude on his bear skin. With this ‘homme fatal’, the game of seduction is reversed, whispering hot and cold
“I like reversing roles, breaking the established codes that no longer have any meaning today,†says Jean Paul Gaultier.
